About 1 in 5 ticks in the Netherlands are infected with the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Every year 1 in 10 people is bitten by a tick and about 27,000 people become infected with Lyme disease. Cat or dog owners are 1.5 times more likely to get a tick bite! For example, your dog or cat may bring home a tick. In the house, the tick can start looking for a new host...maybe that's you!
